Rita Ramsay, a destitute heiress, reluctantly substitutes for her friend on a blind date with wealthy magnate Eric Cotton to pay her mother's medical bills. Planning to sabotage the date, she accidentally sparks a marriage. Initially a marriage of convenience, but Eric surprises Rita by proposing they turn make-believe into reality.
